From the Editor...

The current issue of the Newsletter is ready and if you haven’t received it yet, have no fear - you will do soon. Meanwhile, for those of you still waiting, an article from the current issue is available here [ sample newsletter article...article in Word format ]. We hope that you find it an interesting and stimulating read.

This issue marks the beginning of a transitional phase in the history of the Newsletter. It was put together by Nicky Hockly and Gavin Dudeney (who would like to thank all the contributors). However, the next issue (which we hope will appear in March 2003) is being edited by Jenny Johnson. It is a special commemorative issue, in memory of Gillian Porter Ladousse, and will contain contributions from all the other SIGs. For (at least) the next three issues after that (July 2003), we welcome Lindsay Clandfield as editor.

This is an opportunity for us all to review the Newsletter. We will be considering changes in both content and design and we would be very pleased to hear of any suggestions you may have. Please write to us at (Lindsay’s new email address) with any ideas – however large, however small. Meanwhile, please keep sending in your material for publication – articles, interviews, practical ideas, short tips, news of forthcoming and recent events, anything and everything. Please keep it rolling. The Newsletter can only ever be as good as the contributions it receives. Remember, too, that you can support the Newsletter and our SIG by taking up advertising space. Please contact Lindsay for details of the advertising rates.

Finally, I am sure that you would want to join with me in thanking Derrin Kent for all his work editing the Newsletter in recent years. Derrin recently moved from Spain to pastures new in Peru, from where we hope he will work with us again in the not too distant future. Cheers Derrin, keep in touch.

You will have realized by now that ceci n’est pas l’éditeur, as Magritte might have said (had he been involved in the IATEFL TTEd SIG). But from me, and on behalf of all the other members of the committee, a happy and prosperous new year.

Philip Kerr (Committee member)
Brussels, December 2002
